eSIM installed but no internet?

Signal bars but no internet is almost always one switch: Data Roaming, turned off for the eSIM line. Here is where it is on iPhone and Android, and what to check if that is not it.

Updated · FirstSIM

Why roaming has to be on

A roaming eSIM connects to Jazz as a visiting line. Phones block data on roaming lines by default, so until you allow it the eSIM sits there with signal and no internet. It does not cost extra and it does not affect your normal SIM.

iPhone

  1. Settings → Mobile Data (Cellular in some regions).
  2. Tap the FirstSIM line.
  3. Turn Data Roaming on.
  4. Back on Mobile Data, set Mobile Data to the FirstSIM line and turn off Allow Mobile Data Switching.

Android (Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi)

  1. Settings → Network & internet (Samsung: Connections) → SIMs (Samsung: SIM manager).
  2. Choose the FirstSIM line and make sure it is switched on.
  3. Turn Roaming on for that line.
  4. Set Mobile data to use the FirstSIM line.

Still nothing?

  • Restart the phone once after changing the settings.
  • Network mode: set it to 4G/LTE automatic rather than 5G only.
  • Data left: check your eSIM page — a finished plan looks exactly like a broken one.

If it still will not connect, message support with a screenshot of the SIM settings screen — a real person will look at it with you.

FirstSIM is a Pakistan eSIM for non-PTA phones — delivered in minutes, from Rs 399.

Quick answers

Why does my eSIM show signal but no internet?

Usually because Data Roaming is off for the eSIM line. A roaming eSIM needs it on to carry data.

Does turning on Data Roaming cost extra?

No. The eSIM plan is prepaid; roaming is simply how it connects. Your normal SIM is not affected.

Where is Data Roaming on iPhone?

Settings → Mobile Data → tap the eSIM line → Data Roaming.
